Donald co-founded Initiative: Eau in 2013 and currently serves as the organization’s Chief Executive Officer and President of its Board of Directors.
Professionally, Donald is an infectious disease epidemiologist and global public health consultant. He previously served as a Public Health Officer at the World Health Organization in Geneva, specializing in emerging viruses and the use of vaccines to control epidemic threats. In that role, he coordinated WHO’s global COVID-19 programme of work during the 2023-2025 transition period and led the development of WHO’s Strategic Plan for Coronavirus Disease Threat Management (2025–2030), alongside responsibilities for global COVID-19 vaccination data & monitoring stewardship, monitoring, and analytic support to regional and country teams.
Earlier in his career, Donald was a strategy manager at Dalberg Advisors, supporting public health and humanitarian work, and a Fulbright fellow in Burkina Faso investigating urban water quality to inform infrastructure investment and reduce water-borne disease.
Donald holds a degree in molecular biology and global health from Harvard University and is pursuing a doctorate in infectious disease epidemiology at Yale School of Public Health.
